A Look At Brands' Tweets Aimed At Gamers

Every once in a while, a promoted tweet will pop up on my Twitter timeline clearly aimed at people who have talked about video games on social media. Promoted tweets are rarely fun to encounter on your timeline, but if done right, they can grab some attention for the brand employing the technique. Either way, the results are often pretty goofy.

Now, to be fair, the game industry isn't immune from trying to make crossover content, as you can see from the three tweets below.

It happens more frequently when a massive game hits, as it's more likely to be trending. For instance, we saw an influx of attempts to crossover promoted posts when Pokémon Go was all the rage. Some brands, like Arby's and Totino's, are constantly trying to stay on top of the latest releases, as you'll see below. Some of these tweets are downright stupid, while others are actually somewhat creative and humorous. Check out some of the crossover promoted tweets we've spotted over the course of 2016.
